Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Original photograph has several stains.
Photograph caption dated October 5, 1950 reads "As of today, the Valley Division of the Los Angeles Police Department has four of these new traffic cars on duty to cover long stretches of open Valley roads that have been lure to speeders. Cars are Fords with Mercury engines, capable of more than 100 miles per hour. Officer B. E. Savage and Charles Murphy, head mechanic, inspect one of new units."
