Black and white lantern slide featuring Askari (native African soldiers) or porters from the King's African Rifles carrying supplies, possibly from the KAR Carrier Corps, which was over 400,000 strong and provided transport and support to the interior. Men walk in a train and carry boxes and blankets, some using shoulder poles. This slide comes from a set on the activities of the King’s African Rifles battalions in Nyasaland. It was originally held by the Church of Scotland, and generated by J.W MacKay.
