Description
Photographic portrait of Isaac N. Van Nuys, one of the developers of the south half of the San Fernando Valley, California, [s.d.]. Mr. Van Nuys is pictured here in bust, looking straight ahead. His short-trimmed beard has silvered, although it looks well-attended-to. He wears what appears to be a dark, wool suit, as well as a bowtie. The hair on his head is also short-trimmed, and is parted at left. Photoprint reads: "Isaac Newlin Van Nuys came from San Francisco to join with his friend Isaac Lankershim in the development of the San Fernando Valley. Under their guidance it became a vast wheat ranch".
