Photograph of a group of men beneath an oil derrick at the Playa del Rey oil fields in Venice, ca.1925. Some clad in suits, some clad in workers' garb, the men sit facing center behind a row of pipes. Behind them, a large pulley hangs suspended from the oilrig. In the distance, portions of houses and utility poles can be discerned, as well as the tops of several other derricks.
