Description
Photograph of a view of Hollywood Boulevard looking north from Cahuenga Avenue, showing the Security Bank building, Los Angeles, ca.1927. The six-story Security Bank building stands on the corner in the right center of the frame while automobiles make their way along the streets below and pedestrians stroll along the sidewalk to the right. The building has most of its Venetian blinds drawn, even in the arched windows on the top floor. Shorter, commercial buildings line the boulevard to the right, advertising themselves. Two traffic signs in the extreme foreground read "Right or Left". Other signs include: "Hollywood News Bldg.", "Billiards", "John's Café / Open All Night", "Dairy Lunch", and "Western Union".
Picture File Card reads: "This is the corner of Hollywood Blvd. And Cahuenga Ave. of today, which brings together two fo the biggest rush hour traffic streams in the United States. Until August 3, 1887, this corner was a fig and apricot orchard. Fifteen years ago Paul de Longpre's flower garden was on one corner and tennis courts were where the bank stands."
