Photograph of Mission Santa Barbara, showing interior of arcade and fountain, California, 1898. In the background at center, a monk wearing a cassock can be seen standing in the corridor of the arcade. To the left of the monk, a line of arches can be seen extending into the extreme background. Along the base of each arch, a barred railing is visible. To the right of the monk, a small bench can be seen near a barred window. In the extreme background, two additional people can be seen sitting on a bench, while a small girl stands immediately at left. To the far left, a round fountain with a decorative column at its center can be seen.
