Description
Residence of photographer William H. Fletcher, on Calumet Avenue and Douglas Street, Los Angeles. This is the back of the house, showing a lawn and garden with young trees. W. H. Fletcher's address was listed as 1342 Calumet Avenue in the 1894 Los Angeles City Directory.
Title devised by cataloger based on writing on item: "Back end of lot - two years old. W.H. Fletcher house on Calumet Ave. and Douglas St. Los Angeles Calif." --text, handwritten in ink on verso. The photograph does not have an imprint, but was most likely made by the photographer W. H. Fletcher. "William H. Fletcher, photographer, [residence] 1342 Calumet Ave., Los Angeles" - listing in L.A. City Directory, 1894. William H. Fletcher was a photographer who came to Los Angeles in 1885. (Carl Mautz, Biographies of Western Photographers). Light green mount.
