Arbejdssteder: Efter sprogskole i Nairobi blev hun husmor på Kibeta, en skole for nordiske missionærbørn i Bukoba, 1968-72. Herefter sognemedhjælper i Karagwe, 1973-76 og i Bushangaro,1973-2004. Gudrun Vest har givet mere end 35 år af sit liv til missionsarbejdet i Tanzania, heraf 30 år i Bushangaro, hvor hun har levet helt tæt på den lokale befolkning, mobiliseret kvinder i grupper – også helt ude i bushen. Her kunne kvinderne lære og dele viden om familieplanlægning, ernæring, håndarbejde og tale om deres fælles udfordringer. Som gruppe kunne de få mod og styrke til at løse deres problemer. Foto 1984. Gudrun Vest, born 1937. Primary school education. Course at the Selly Oak Colleges, Birmingham, 1972. Course at Løgumkloster Folk High School, 1973. Matron at the Danish YWCA in London, 1961-67. Sent by DMS/Danmission to Tanzania, 1968-2004. Working areas: Following language school in Nairobi, she became housekeeper of the Kibeta School for missionary kids, 1968-72, then parish assistant at Karagwe, 1973-76 and at Bushangaro, 1973-2004. Gudrun Vest has spent more than 35 years in Tanzania, and of these, 30 years have been in Bushangaro, living quite close to the local population, where she organized women groups, also in very remote areas. Here the women had the opportunity to learn and discuss issues as family planning, nutrition, needlework, and also to share common challenges.
