Description
Schmidt's Meat Market at 537 San Mateo Avenue, c. 1910. The Schmidt family, Henry Sr. and Annie, and their five children, moved to San Bruno from San Francisco in 1907 and opened a market on San Mateo Avenue, which was then a dirt road, with living quarters attached. From left to right: unknown man, Henry Schmidt Sr. in apron, butcher boy, Frank Schmidt, Annie Schmidt with Adolf Schmidt in front of her, and Edith Schmidt, who became the Queen of the Incorporation Day Parade in 1914 and later married Harry Cook.
