A soldier holds a copy of Guatemala's Prensa Libre newspaper. The main headline reads, "Guevara takes the lead in the presidential election." An additional headline reads, "Elections took place without major incidents." To his left and right there are two soldiers standing. The soldier on the left of the image is holding an IMI Galil rifle with a folded stock. The weapon is of Israeli origin. On March 8, 1982 Ángel Aníbal Guevara won the presidential election although electoral fraud was claimed by other parties. A military coup prevented Guevara from assuming power and installed a three-man junta headed by General Efraín Ríos Montt. Un soldado lee una copia del periódico La Prensa Libre.
