Note: Veröffentlicht (Perregaux 1906: 159). - Als Nr. 72b publiziert im Album 'Achtzig Ansichten von der Goldküste (Westafrika) nach Originalaufnahmen des Missionars Fritz Ramseyer', Neuenburg 1895. (RI). - Bildlegende im Album: "Ein bestrafter Dieb aus Kumase. - Nicht immer wird der Diebstahl mit dem Tode bestraft. Hier haben wir einen jungen Mann, welchem vor einigen Jahren in Kumase die beiden Ohren und die Lippen weggeschnitten wurden, weil er die für den König bestimmten Fische gestohlen hatte. Es werden Verbrechen, wie z.B. des Königs Eid schwören, einen Häuptling schimpfen, zuweilen mit Wegschneiden der Nase bestraft." (RI).
