Description
Amatuer golfer William Duffus is captured in this August 1929 photograph, taken at Sacramento's Amatuer Golf Championship at the Del Paso Country Club. William's brother, Elmer Duffus, captured the top flight title by defeating Manville Pendleton in a 36-hole match before a gallery of 500. William, a clerk for Bank of America, victored in the second flight group. Both men, William, 22, and Elmer, 20, were second generation Scottish Americans.
