Photograph article dated March 18, 1963, partially reads, "Coach Felix Jumonville can be pardoned for dealing in futures as in the stock market - his Valley State College freshmen are writing all the headlines in track and field while the Matador varsity is struggling. And bringing dreams of next year. While the varsity was finishing second against Los Angeles State and California Poly of Pomona at L.A. State last Saturday the Matador freshmen not only were surging to another victory but were scoring sweeps in five events to win the competition with the L.A. State yearlings handily, 119-23." Photograph caption reads, "L.A. State's Larry Soderburg leads Valley State hurdlers - Flanking the winner are Ken Freeman, left, and Rich Williams of Valley State."
