Shanker talks about how to define performance in terms of education. He describes the politics of funding local schools and organizations. Shanker advises that a good leader should be focused on performance and results, not necessarily rules and regulations. He talks about how to deal with strikes and employee threats. He ends the interview by discussing how to balance long and short term goals.
