Photo shows Dr. George Parrish, City health officer (on right), testing the sight of Matthew M. Shirley who is said to be approaching blindness from "jake" paralysis. He's said to have imbibed Jamaica ginger and denatured alcohol. Photo dated: February 5, 1931.
