Opened on June 10, 1938, by the Hollywood Turf Club, Hollywood Park was renamed Betfair Hollywood Park on March 13, 2012. It was a thoroughbred and standard bred race course. The racetrack was closed after the final race on December 22, 2013. Photograph caption dated June 11, 1959 reads, "C. V. Whitney's flying filly Silver Spoon gets the feel of the Hollywood Park track as she flies through a workout with Jockey Bill Boland aboard. The Santa Anita Derby winner will make her seasonal bow Saturday in the $50,000 added Cinema Handicap at Hollypark. Boland will ride her against Tomy Lee and other crack 3-year-olds."
