Description
Bust-length photographs. "A. L. Sweetser" -- handwritten in lower right corner (1990-1745).

Born in Maine in 1819. Worked as house and ship joiner. Came overland to California in 1849 with the party, Boston and Newton Joint Stock Association. Settled in Sacramento, beginning in 1860 engaged in real estate and insurance business. Was member of Sons of Temperance, volunteer fireman in Hook and Ladder Company, No. 1. Served as School Director and Secretary of the Board of Education. Died in 1910.
