Photograph caption reads: "700,000 Southland residents crowded to Los Angeles area beaches to set a record yesterday for the month of February as temperatures hovered in the 80s, according to county lifeguards". The parking lot at the beach in Santa Monica has only a few empty spots. People are strolling or sunbathing or playing beach volleyball as sailboats pass by. Photograph dated: Feb. 13, 1977.
