Description
Photograph of a view of the ruined corridor (or arcade?) at Mission San Juan Capistrano, Orange County, California, 1885. Arches of the dilapidated arcade form a square around the quadrangle (at right). Wild grass, flowers, and fallen adobe debris cover the ground.
"Mission San Juan Capistrano was the 7th Mission when it was founded by Father Serra in 1776. Mission San Juan Capistrano is famous for its Swallows. A Swallow is a type of bird which lives in 'houses' made of mud on cliffs, under eaves, and other such overhangs. It is said that the Swallows return to their homes at the Mission every year on March 19th." -- unknown author.
