Photograph article dated May 23, 1950 partially reads, "A man who 'wants to die an American,' is studying for citizenship in the citizenship class at Van Nuys Evening High School. 'I have been paying taxes here in America for 42 years. Now I want to be able to have a say in government through my vote,' said the citizen-pupil, Mike Student, 60, of 8645 Landon Ave., San Fernando. Student, a rancher, came to the United States in 1908. His dream is to die an American - a dream that evening high school opportunities are helping unfold."
