Description
Headdresses for November 1823 are presented. Three hats and a woman's head are shown. The hat in the top left corner is light blue with gathered fabric in a circle at the crown. White ribbon is woven and shafts of wheat are interspersed around the circumference. The band of the hat is blue with two white stripes running vertically around the circumference. The head of the woman is in profile and has pink calla lilies on top of her head. A decorative gold and pearl ornamental comb holds her hair up in the back. She wears pearl teardrop earrings. In the bottom left hand corner is a ladies top hat. The hat is black and has a black hat band with a buckle in front. A sheer, white veil is draped around the hat and cascades down the side. The veil is trimmed with lace. In the bottom right hand corner is a straw bonnet with pink lining and a pink ribbon tie. Around the hat band are pomegranates and blue and white flowers with leaves. Two white feathers with pink tips are attached to the left side and cascade down over the brim.
