Description
Photograph of an exterior view of Saint Dominics Church, showing fire damage, San Francisco, 1906. The roof of a shed can be seen in the foreground on the left with an electrical pole standing in the cobblestone street behind it. Thin wooden boards are piled beneath the electrical pole on the right side of the street. Several houses stand in a row behind the pile with people and a horse-drawn carriage on the sidewalk in front of them. Further down the street stands the impressive Saint Dominics Church. The church has many large, arched windows and a round, stained-glass window at its center. The middle portion of its large, dome tower has burned and folded to the roof exposing the wooden frame inside. The steeple on the right has lost all of its outer layers and is now a skeletal frame. Pieces of the wall have cracked and crumbled to the sidewalk below.
