Photograph was edited for publication purposes The Clarence W. Pierce School of Agriculture is a two-year community college in Woodland Hills, California. It opened in September 1947, with 70 students and 18 faculty members and is part of the Los Angeles Community College District. The school's initial focus was crop cultivation and animal husbandry, and still retains a large swatch of open fields for hands-on working farm training. In 1956 the school was renamed Los Angeles Pierce College. Photograph caption dated January 18, 1961 reads "Alden Rollins, 18, 207 Muerdago Rd., Topanga, and Nancy Hedley, 18, 22419 Victory Blvd., Canoga Park, rest on the grass in the older, original portion of the Pierce campus. The Spanish-style architecture of the buildings in the rear will not be duplicated on new structures because of the expense."; See images #00119960 through #00119964 for all photos in this series.
