From IBM CORP>: SHHH! Typewriter at work: The IBM "Quietwriter" (R) 7 Typewriter, shown here, is the quietest IBM typewriter. It featurews a new print technology that electronically "paints" the ink onto the paper. One of the three new IBM "Selectric" (R) System/2000 Typewriters, the "Quietwriter" 7 also has built-in microprocessors to help typists automatically perform many routine tasks more easily. The "Quietwriter" 7 is fast as well as quiet. When material is played back from its memory of about 7,000 characters, the typewriter has a maximum speed of 40 to 60 cps, depending on pitch.
