Description: Youngsters set sail in the world's safest boat race at the annual Youth Services Yacht Regatta at Del Rey Lagoon in Playa Del Rey on August 11, 1977. The regatta brings together Los Angeles City Schools students who have built their sailboats to exacting specifications.
