Photograph caption dated June 23, 1954 reads "Thirty-five hundred spectators, including 600 boys, gave a pre-league sendoff to the 11th annual season of the Tujunga Kiwanis softball league last night. Feature of the program was an exhibition game in which Jackson Paints beat Valley Times, 3-2. From left are Gene Mayer, Kiwanis chairman for the summer league; Bob Rankin, master of ceremonies; Howard Merithew, Tujunga Kiwanis president; Virginia Furst, accordionist; Philip Gray, TV and radio singer, and J. C. McMath, Hollywood Stars scout."
