Description
Plates in: [Construction of the C & H Sugar plant, Crockett : photograph album], pg. [1]. 2015-1163. Originally built in 1883 by the Star Flour Mill, the mill consisted of buildings, docks, rail connections to the Carquinez Straits. Star Mill went broke in the 1890's and the plant was purchased by C&H. Beginning in 1917 and continuing into 1921, C&H replaced the docks and buildings on the waterfront. Grangers Warehouse and Dock, built in 1876 by Grangers' Warehousing and Business Association of Contra Costa County, one mile east of Eckley. Destroyed by toredo, pile-boring marine worm.
