Description
Monrovia Street Railway Company horse car that went between the Santa Fe Depot and the La Vista Grande Hotel and points east. 500 block of S Myrtle, southbound. Building at right is Myrtle and Colorado (Orange) Caption: "Mule and Gravity Rapid Transit. The mules walked up the hill, pulling the car. At the top they climbed on and coasted back. When this system was abandoned, its 'central power plant' was sold to the hillside farmer, who complained that although his mules pulled the plow fine, up hill they insisted on climbing on to ride back." Bicycle at rear.
