Description
Photograph of the Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad Depot on East First Street on the east side of the Los Angeles River, ca.1920. The building has 2 stories. This photograph was made after the fire that mostly destroyed the second floor (notice the damaged roof and the additional bracing on the first floor added after the file). The building was demolished in November 1924. After 1921, the Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad (LA&SL) lines were operated as part of the Union Pacific system however, the LA&SL corporation continued to exist on paper until the end of 1980s. An automobile is parked in front beside a "No parking" sign. A large tree grows at right with a "No parking" sign posted on it. Dollies of varying size sit on the depot porch.
