Description
From back of photo: "HISTORIC PHOTOGRAPH" "Possibly the earliest photograph ever taken of the Wireless Telegraph system of Dr. Lee de Forest which remains in existence today showing his operator Charles B. Cooper, as exhibited in August and September 1903 at the Toronto, Ontario, Canada, World's fairgrounds. See exterior view of the same exhibit showing Dr. de Forest standing outside of the tent. Note the strainght (sic) spark-gap and the transmitting tuning coil. The original photograph size 5" X 7" was yellow with age, and also considerably out of focus when taken. It was loaned by Mr. Cooper, owner, and photo-copied in November 1953 by Kenneth Richardson (Charter Member of the Dr Forest Pioneers, Inc.) 254 Vincent Ave., Lynbrook, N. Y., and the new negative is in the possession of Kenneth Richardson." Note: Per information another version of this photograph, it was the Toronto Fairgrounds, not the World's Fair grounds.
