Description
Annotation translation: "Many fishermen on the East River have 2-3 such birds. They sit on a raft in the river and when they see a fish with their sharp eyes they dive into the water, fetch it and lay it on the raft like a poodle bringing a stick. People put a ring round their necks to stop them swallowing the fish. If they have done their work well during the day they get some fish for themselves in the evening. An energetic bird can catch up to 40 pounds in the course of a day. A good fisher-bird can cost up to 150 dollars."
