Photograph was edited for publication purposes. The Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, located at 3939 S. Figueroa Street, was officially opened on July 4, 1959 by then Vice President Richard M. Nixon and was designed by Welton Becket; general contractor was L.E. Dixon Company. The last event at the arena was a Bruce Springsteen concert. The arena was closed on March 19, 2016 and demolished to make room for a new soccer stadium. Photograph caption dated January 28, 1965 reads "Bud Olsen of the Cincinnati Royals fires successful shot over outstretched hand of Laker Rudy LaRusso (35) while Jerry Lucas (16) and Jack Twyman (right) await possible rebound. Partially hidden behind LaRusso is Jerry West who scored 42 poins [sic] to help Los Angeles to a 119-112 victory last night at Sports Arena."
