Photograph of people renting boats at Westlake (later MacArthur) Park in Los Angeles, 1947. A small wooden dock can be seen in the foreground at center and a large number of people is gathered on it, waiting for boats. The lake extends into the can be seen at left and center. A collection of motor boats and canoes ca be seen on the water. The shore of the lake is visible in the distance, and many people can be seen lounging on the grassy shore. Several palm trees encircle the lake. Tall buildings can be seen in the distance at right. A sign on the dock reads as follows: "Half Hour Rates Motor Boats with Radios Boats 50 60 70 Canoes 30 40 50".
