Description
Panoramic view looking toward East Los Angeles from the hill north of Bishop Street, at N. Broadway--showing that North Broadway was not a street north of Bishop Street. The first house at the foot of the hill is a brewery. Taken '73. The Southern Pacific Railroad started building across the site of the picture in July 1873. It will be noted that there is no evidence of any railroad construction. The bridge across the river is Old Downey Ave. Bridge, now North Spring Street.--From "L.A. Historical review" Oct. 1929.
