Photograph (engineering notebook photoprint) looking north from foot of 53rd Avenue, Los Angeles County. Beach is building up here, account new rock jetty for Ballona Creek Channel at 60th Avenue. This was the result of a 6.2 tide on 9 January 1940 accompanied by heavy ground swells and 30 foot breakers which did considerable damage to piers and ocean front property between Newport Beach and Malibu. Also visible are: beach, oil derricks, a few buildings, walkway, street lights, birds, ocean. No legible signs.
