Description
The South Bay Yacht Club clubhouse was constructed on the Alviso shoreline in 1903. By this time, the San Jose-San Francisco Railroad (which bypassed Alviso) had replaced the steam ferries that used to frequent the port, leaving this part of the Bay free for recreational sailing. In these photographs, auto enthusiasts take a break from their cars at this popular recreation destination, and try out their bay-legs on some of the sailboats kept at the small marina near the South Bay Yacht Club.
