Photograph caption dated March 26, 1958 reads, "A 'sleeping' - or unconscious - girl passenger in the car of a man seeking 'the best way out of town' may have been Shirley Ann Bridgeford, 24, missing Sun Valley divorcee, a Sunland gas station attendant said today. The report of Clyde Ellis Jr., 27, provided a new lead to the girl who left her home March 8 for her first date with the lonely hearts club escort who identified himself as 'George Williams.' Ellis told the Valley Times today that a man answering Williams' description drove into his service station at 8510 Sunland Blvd. an hour to an hour and a half after the girl left her home and ordered $2 worth of gasoline."
