Photograph caption dated January 16, 1984 reads, "A large crowd cheers on protesters during a sit-in at the Diablo Canyon atomic energy plant as sheriff's deputies prepare to arrest 50 of them for trespassing. The demonstrators, who willingly went to jail, included 21 faculty and staff from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. The protesters said they were obeying a "higher law" in refusing orders to leave the nuclear power plant property."
