Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated September 13, 1956 reads "Ready for egg box. Thomas Buonarati and wife, Bernice, clean, grade and package eggs using egg washer and grader Buonarate (sic) designed and built himself. Buonaratis have 5,000 white leghorn layers on two-acre Sylmar ranch they have run for seven years. Buonarati is member of Los Angeles County Farm Bureau and San Fernando Valley Farm Center. Use of modern housing methods for poultry--one cage holding two layers--permits ranchers to go into business with limited acreage.
