This is a photograph of Father Lavin assisted by Sr. Francis, baptizing some of the orphans. Born in Massachusetts, Fr. Lavin came to Maryknoll in 1924 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1932. He was assigned to Kongmoon, South China that same year. He was taken by the communists but released in 1953. In 1954 he was assigned to Hawaii and also did promotion work in the United States including work in the Chicago, Illinois Chinese mission.
