Shades of L.A. is an archive of photographs representing the contemporary and historic diversity of families in Los Angeles. Images were chosen from family albums and include daily life, social organizations, work, personal and holiday celebrations, and migration and immigration activities. Title supplied by cataloger.; Image is a reproduction. Shahen Gharabegian was born in Tehran in 1922 and lived for a time in Abadan, the oil capital of Iran. He came to Southern California in 1980 following the Iranian Revolution. He was a member of the Armenian Apostolic Church (Ferrahian) and the Armenian Engineers & Scientists of America. He died in Northridge, CA, in 2012 at the age of 89. Wedding photo of Aveti Gharabegian, groom, and his bride Katarine Bernardi, taken in Tehran, Iran, February 6, 1899.
