Description
Photograph of a view of Santa Monica looking south from the bluffs towards the pier, ca.1925. The top of the cliffs of Palisades Park is at left and is densely covered with short palm trees. A low wooden fence runs along the edge of the cliff. The ocean is at right and is bordered by a sandy beach that is full of people. A line of beach houses and other buildings runs parallel the beach and the adjacent Pacific Coast Highway. A pier juts out into the water in the background at right, and several structures are erected on the wharf, including a roller coaster and several buildings. The old Venice amusement park is visible in the distance.
