Photograph included in the exhibit: "From Hula Hoops to Hanoi: L.A. Concerns, 1954-1965." Photograph caption dated August 9, 1958 reads, "Displaying their newly acquired hula-hoop skills are Jane, 7, and Janet Raub, 7, of North Hollywood. Jane uses her hoop as jump rope while her sister spins hers with undulating motion which gave uniquely simple toy its name. This plastic gimmick has caught on fast with Valley youngsters and they have devised numerous tricks for which they may be used."; See images #00121121 and #00121122 for additional photos in this series.
