Photograph caption dated September 26, 1956 reads, "S/Sgt. Herb Hartmann, Marine Corps recruiter, right, talks to Don Sapronetti, left, and Melvin Kirk, center, in North Hollywood at corner of Lankershim and Magnolia boulevards. Today is last day recruiter will be in Valley to give draft-age men chance to learn benefits of joining Corps for six-month active duty stint and then returning home in civilian status to complete five and a half years in active reserve program."
