Photograph caption dated September 10, 1962 reads, "Mothers in Van Nuys Council are busy painting safety slogans on school crosswalks and sidewalks. 'Look Three Ways' signs are being painted by Mmes. William Higgins, Van Nuys; Milton Gilbert, Sherman Oaks, and Martin Bormaster, Sherman Oaks. Sidewalk painting is beginning of a year-long safety education by PTA and schools."
