Photograph was edited for publication purposes The Order of DeMolay was founded in 1919 by Frank S. Land in Kansas City, Missouri. The organization is modeled after Freemasonry and named after Jacques de Molay, the last master of the Knights Templar. Open to young men between the ages of 12 and 21, the group's main goal is to guide young men to lead productive lives by developing civic awareness, personal responsibility and leadership skills. Photograph caption dated March 10, 1960 reads, "This will be scene Sunday when North Hollywood Order of DeMolay assembles at Masonic Temple, 5122 Tujunga Ave., North Hollywood, for annual fund-raising breakfast. Helping Mothers Club in kitchen will be teenage DeMolays, from left, Bob Cook, 18; Joe Noyes, 17; Bob Sturges, 17, and Jack Orrill, 18. Public is invited to 8 a.m.-1 p.m. meal in which ham and eggs, potatoes, biscuits, pancakes will be served."
