Description
1989-1308. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 42. Oblique view of a 3 storey building with a wooden awning at the 2nd floor level; a sign in front identifies the business as the "CASCADE LAUNDRY"; the entrance is to the right; a sign at the right edge of the building states "Office. Visitors Welcome"; each storey exhibits two rectangular windows with circular windows in between the rectangular windows. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "Cor. of alley Old Union Brewery, famous in the 'gay 90's.' Erected sometime before 1885 by Jacob Gerbert. Now the Cascade Laundry, owned by the Clark family."
