Description
The Thaddeus & Ludmilla Welch cabin in Steep Ravine on the slope of Mt. Tamalpais, showing the water wheel on Webb Creek in front of the cabin, circa 1898. The Welches lived here from 1894-1902. The reverse side of the photograph has a stamp reading "If this material is under copyright status, it has been reproduced for the purpose of private study, and must not be further reproduced without permission of the copyright owner. CALIFORNIA STATE LIBRARY Source: California Section Photograph Collection Negative GL# 2482." A typed note from the California State Library accompanying the photograph reads, "Idyllic Steep Ravine and the Welch Cottage in its heyday, circa 1898." Back of photo also has a note handwritten in pencil and then crossed out, reading "Thaddeus Welch's water wheel, view 3 of 3 views".
