Poet and Mill Valley resident Elsa Gidlow (left) with Abigail Hemstreet, a member of the Women's Spirituality Group. The photo was taken in Los Angeles where Gidlow was honored by the Southern California Women for Understanding (SCWU) at their second Lesbian Rights Award Banquet. The banquet took place during a Weekend of Lesbian Culture. SCWU was one of the earliest lesbian non-profit educational organizations in Los Angeles.
