Description
Gwyndolen Conger Steinbeck was the second wife of John Steinbeck and the mother of his two sons. Twice a Pulitzer Prize-winner (Grapes of Wrath and East of Eden) and the recipient of the 1962 Nobel Prize in Literature award, John Steinbeck was born in Salinas (California) in 1902. Conger Steinbeck agreed to speak about her ex-husband after his death in 1968. These interviews with Gwyndolen Conger Steinbeck by Douglas Brown informed a memoir titled My Life with Steinbeck (2018).Additional Descriptive Notes: Tapes 1-2 recorded 1971-03-30; tapes 3-5 recorded 1971-04-06; tapes 6-12 recorded 1971-05-28.
